Amrish Puri Personal life:
Amrish Puri was born in the Punjab region of India in the district of Nawanshehar, near Jalandhar. His parents were Lala Nihal Chand (father) and Ved Kaur (mother). He had four siblings: two elder brothers, Chaman Puri and Madan Puri (both actors), an elder sister, Chandrakanta, and a younger brother, Harish Pu ri. He received his bachelor’s degree from B.M. College in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Amrish arrived in Bombay with only a few hundred rupees in his pocket and rose to prominence through sheer hard work, perseverance, and a disciplined lifestyle.
On January 5, 1957, he married Urmila Divekar at the Shri Krishna Temple in Wadala. The couple had two children: Rajeev Puri, a son, and Namrata Puri, a daughter. Rajeev, his son, is a businessman. Sachi, Harsh Vardhan, Shantanu Bagwe, and Krish Bagwe are his grandchildren.
